Carousel Boat FAQ's

Yes, our limit is 8 passengers however we do have a little flexibility with *slightly* larger groups. Please inquire before booking. 

Taxes and fees will be calculated at checkout.

Please note this will not include the cost of your captain whom you will pay directly, the day of your trip.

We are also legally required to charge you for the cost of fuel for your trip which will be included in checkout. 

Due to federal regulations, we cannot legally select a captain for you. Therefore, during checkout, you will receive a list of qualified captain options to choose from. 

The selected captain will be arranged by us so you don’t have to do anything.

At the time of your rental, you will pay the captain directly. The rate is $50/hour + gratuity.

Note: You may also select your own US Coast Guard Licensed captain who is familiar with the vessel and waterway. Please send their mariner license and proof of insurance to [email protected] at least 48 hours ahead of your trip. 

Cancellations are not permitted however date and time changes to the original itinerary can be made up until 48 hours prior to your reservation start date (pending availability). Once you are within 48 hours, no changes or cancellations are permitted. Bookings cancelled due to technical and weather issues will be credited. 

We are a small business and flexible so we can make certain refund exceptions for out-of-town customers who might not be able to use a credit.

If in the rare case that it rains or the weather is deemed unfit to go out, we will credit you for a future trip. However, we will still go out in light rain, fog or cold weather.

We conveniently pickup and drop off in Harbor Island on San Diego Bay.

Before getting underway, the person who booked the reservation will be responsible for filling out and signing the Bareboat Charter contract. We will assist you in this process. The other passengers/guests will be required to sign a waiver.

Please arrive 30 minutes ahead of time to take care of this and prepare for boarding.

We have an 8 speaker bluetooth sound system for upstairs and downstairs so you should be good! Work on that playlist!

We are centrally located in San Diego Bay right downtown.

Approx. 3 minutes from the airport, 20 minutes from Pacific Beach, 25 minutes of La Mesa/El Cajon, 20 minutes from Chula Vista. 

Sandwiches are always a safe bet. Board & Brew and Jersey Mike’s are popular options in town.

We recommend you do not as we have our own and it is pretty big.

During the hottest months of the year it’s a good idea to remember sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and extra water. 

For the coldest days, we recommend bringing some extra layers and even a blanket if you’re prone to getting chilly. 

Yes, please only two dogs per group though.

Depending on the length of the rental, we typically spend time cruising the bay before anchoring the boat to jump in, lay out, eat, shoot pics etc. But if you have any requests let your captain know. 

Absolutely, just notify us in advance so we can coordinate time before your group.

This depends on the specific request and may incur an additional fee. 

You’re not required to bring any documents with you the day of your booking. However, while onboard you and your group will be given a waiver to sign before getting underway. 

No, we do not charge a security deposit prior to your trip.
